SUMMARY:Angus Miller\, Geo Walks - Geology walk\, harbour to Belhaven
DESCRIPTION:A short walk along the Dunbar coastal path\, to explore the different kinds of rock and the evidence of past activity. We’ll find the remains of several volcanoes\, about 340 million years old – lava flows\, layers of ash\, in-filled vents and intrusions. We will also dig deeper into Dunbar’s geological history\, finding some older sedimentary rocks\, sandstone layers with intriguing features that tell us about the time when this area baked in a desert climate south of the equator. We will walk from the harbour along the coastal path and the promenade\, with a couple of diversions onto pebbly and sandy beaches\, returning to the town centre at the end of the walk. \nDistance 4km (suitable for 12+ years).

SUMMARY:Angus Miller\, Geo Walks - families beach exploration
DESCRIPTION:Head down to the beach to explore Dunbar’s rocky story. Where did all these pebbles come from? How many different types can we find? Each pebble contains clues to the past\, telling us about the volcanoes and rivers that used to be here and helped make Dunbar special. We’ll explore the rocks on the shore and look at the cliffs\, to work out all the different things that have happened in the past – and what’s going to happen next!
