John Muir’s Birthplace has become the first transatlantic recipient of the John Muir Conservation Award for its work promoting the legacy of John Muir through an exciting programme of exhibitions, children’s workshops, talks, projects and events.

John Muir Conservation AwardThe 31st Annual John Muir Conservation Awards celebration took place in Martinez, California in November. Jo Moulin, Manager of John Muir’s Birthplace, gave a presentation about the work of the Birthplace and collected the Nonprofit Conservation Award. East Lothian Council Leader David Berry took time out of a private visit to San Francisco to attend the ceremony.

Jo Moulin said “it was a great honour to receive this award from the John Muir Association in recognition of the hard work and enthusiasm of the team of staff and volunteers at John Muir’s Birthplace, and was a great opportunity to make new contacts and further the strong relationships that exist between the Birthplace and John Muir related organisations in California. We look forward to reciprocating the warm welcome and hospitality extended by our friends in California during the year of Homecoming”.
