Designer Garrett Burke visits John Muir's Birthplace |
| Posted by Pauline on 07 Aug 2009 |
The designer of the Californian Quarter Garrett Burke visited John Muir's Birthplace in mid July. The visit coincided with the Friends of John Muir's Birthplace annual Sand Sculpture competition held on the East Beach, Dunbar.
Garrett, his wife Michelle and daughter Katie were delighted with the people and scenery of East Lothian. 'Friends' Duncan Smeed and Jo Moulin surprised him with a sand replica of the quarter, depicting John Muir, Half Dome and the Californian condor.
The family were treated to guided walks around Dunbar and entertained by Friends throughout the weekend.
Garrett is currently designing and writing a book on the US quarters issued in 2005.
